I’m a life-long learner. A later in life desire a couple of years ago to transition into a new career reignited an earlier passion for computers and technology. In my free time I started learning Python and revisited Linux, which I hadn’t thought about since the 90s!
But it was a chance conversation with a neighbour that sparked my curiosity about cybersecurity and this lead me to enroll in cybersecurity studies. It was 2 years of learning about everything cybersecurity related and although it was at times challenging, I loved every minute of it!
I am proud to say that I have now graduated from a Certificate IV in Cybersecurity at Melbourne Polytechnic. But the learning doesn’t stop there!<\/p>\n\n\n\n
I’ve always been obsessed with words – as a child I read books by torchlight under the bed covers and vowed that I’d read the entire dictionary (still working on that project!).
When I started out on my adventure into learning about cybersecurity, my very first teacher suggested that we keep a “little black book” of cybersecurity and computing terms. I enthusiastically embraced that concept and although I have actual physical notebooks where I’ve written out terms as I’ve learned them, I also use note taking apps for my “little black book”.
I continue to hand write as I find it enjoyable and freeing to just scribble away.

This “little black book” idea has given rise to this blog – an A to Z of computing, technology and cybersecurity terms, from AAA to Zero-Day.
There are many glossary websites and sources for learning about terms and concepts, but I am never satisfied with just learning a term and memorising it, I need to get under the hood and discover how things work.
